Coreopsis 'Cherry Lemonade'

Photo courtesy of Terra Nova Nursery

This is only an annual in most zones but is still absolutely worth growing. The amazing foliage alone is worth growing but add in the cherry colored flowers and you have a real eye catcher. New for 2010

8 inches

Bloom Time: Summer to Early Fall

Flower Color: Cherry Red

Flower Size: 1 inches

Zone: 9-11

Coreopsis 'Red Shift'

Another release from rockstar hybridizer Daryl Probst. A large yellow flower that adds red tinges gradually turns red as the cool temperatures come on. The summer color is not that different than many other varieties out there but the fall color is very nice. We're viewing this as a replacement/improvement variety for other yellows as it has better fall color, rather than a must add. We think you'll be seeing a lot more of this tickseed in the future.

Height:
30-36 inches

Spread: 24-30 inches

Bloom Time: Summer to Fall

Flower Color: Yellow then turning red with cold temperatures
Flower Size: 2 inches

Zone: 5-9

Coreopsis 'Ruby Frost'

Coreopsis Ruby Frost is a new introduction for 2010 that has incredible red flowers tipped in white. A different look from your traditional yellow flowered coreopsis and a real breakthrough in flower colors. Be careful with this one up north as it is a tender Zone 6 plant. If you live in colder zones than this treat it as an annual. An annual that you'll love

Height:
20 inches

Spread: 26 inches

Bloom Time: Summer to Fall

Flower Color: Red, tipped in white

Flower Size: 1 inch

Zone: 6-9

Coreopsis grandiflora 'Sunray'

Another long blooming coreopsis that offers all summer color with little maintenance. A seed grown variety that is a yellowish gold and flowers best if deadheaded.

18-36 inches

Spread: 18 inches

Bloom Time: Late Spring to Late Summer

Flower Color: Yellow to Orange

Flower Size: 2 inches

Coreopsis x. 'Tequila Sunrise'

The flower on Tequila Sunrise are nice enough to grow on their own merits but it's the foliage that makes this tickseed really stand out. The flower is a lemon yellow with red center and bloom all summer with a heavy stand of flowers early summer and a lighter, continuous bloom until the end of summer. The foliage is edged in white that reminds one of the shrub Daphne 'Carol Macke". Some variegated foliaged plants seem to be weak, this is not one of them. I will say that some of the plants seem to "bloom themselves to death" but this plant does reseed so you seem to have a new plant in its place each year. A must have coreopsis
Height: 15-18 inches

Spread: 18 inches

Bloom Time: Early to Late Summer

Flower Color: Yellow

Flower Size: 2 inches

Zone: 4-8

Coreopsis 'Lighning Flash'

Lightning Flash
is grown more for it's bright yellow new foliage than anything else. The tags they are sent with say 3-5 feet. Don't believe it. They will easily get 5 feet tall so keep that in mind.

Height:
36-60 inches

Spread: 36 inches

Bloom Time: Mid to Late Summer

Flower Color: Yellow

Flower Size: 2 inches

Zone: 3-8

Coreopsis 'Autumn Blush'

If you want a long blooming Coreopsis with a flower color other than yellow, then Autumn Blush is for you. By the way, it is also hardy to Zone 4. Autumn Blush is a ferny leaf type coreopsis that is perfect for the front border and will flower like an annual but lives like a perennial. An added bonus is the blush that develops in the flowers as the cool Fall season sets in.
